Foundation of the FESPP - The later FESPB

On the occasion of the 5th international Congress of the FESPP, Hartmut K. Lichtenthaler describes the birth of the organisation. He reviews the events in the 1970s that led to the official foundation of the FESPB in 1978 in Edinburgh. He also depicts the hurdles cleared, portrays the negotiations conducted and names the persons who were engaged in its birth. His booklet contains original documents and letters as well as personal reports1). In September 2002 the organisation changed its name from FESPP into FESPB (Federation of European Societies of Plant Biology). A short version was published a little later2).
